Tu kareemi mann kameena burda amm.

This Persian kalam is written by Moulana Rumi, and sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Lyrics and Translation:

Tu kareemi mann kameena burda amm
(You, the Gracious one and I, the ignoble, standing at your door)

lekin az lutf-e-shumaar parwarda amm
(You are my cherisher)

zindagi amad barae bandagi
(Life's purpose is divine devotion)

zindagi bebandagi, sharmindagi.
(Life, without devotion, disgrace)

yaad ae oo sarmaya-e-emaan bo'add
(Remembrance of Him is the foundation of faith)

harr gadaa, azz yaad-e-oo sultaan bo'add
(the beggars are like kings due to His remembrance)

sayyed o sarwar Muhammad(p.b.u.h) noor-e-jaan
(Liege Lord, Oh Muhammad(p.b.u.h) you are the light of our lives)

mehtar-o-behtar shafeeay mujrimaan
(the mighty and the best intercessor of the wrong-doers)

choon Muhammad(p.b.u.h) pak shud az naar o dood
(since Muhammad(p.b.u.h) was purified of worldly things)

harr kuja rooh kardd wajullah bood
(whatever direction He turned is found the face of Allah)

shahbaz-e-lamakani jaan-e-oo
(His soul is like the falcon of high heavens)

rehmat-ul-lil aalameen darr shan-e-oo
(His eminence is the "mercy of the worlds")

mehtareen o behtareen-e-ambiyaa
(the mightiest and the best of all Prophets he is)

juz Muhammad naist darr arz-o-samaa
(except Muhammad(p.b.u.h) in land or sky. there is none worthy)

aan Muhammad(p.b.u.h) haamid-o-mahmood shud
(he is the praise of GOD, divinely praised in abundant)

shakal-e-aabid, surat-e-mahbood shud
(he is the reflection of God in the shape of worshiping servant)

auliyaah Allah O Allah auliyaah
(The friends of God are like God because God's their friend)

yani deed-e-peer, deed-e-kibriyaah
(and in this way he who has seen his Master, has seen God's glory)

harr k peer-o-zaat-e-haqq rahh aik na deed
(if one doesn't see his spiritual master as reflection of God)

nehh mureed o nehh mureed o nehh mureeed
(he is not a disciple, not a disciple, not a disciple)

Moulvi hargiz na shud moulana-e-Rum
(moulvi could never be moulana ae Rum)

taa ghulam-e-Shams Tabrezi na shud
(had he not devoted himself to Shams Tabrezi)
